“The EU decision-making process can be complex, lengthy and at times off-putting for outsiders. There is a need for interpretation. That is our role at g+.”

Bruno has an impressive professional track-record in EU politics and communications.

He started his career as a journalist with Le Monde in Paris, where he spent 16 years, finishing up as Chief Economic Editor. During that time he covered major French and international stories such as the end of the Vietnam war, the nationalisation of the banks in France and Khomeini’s arrival in Tehran.

In 1988 the then European Commission President Jacques Delors appointed Bruno as his chief spokesman in Brussels. Bruno remained in Delors’ Brussels until 1995, a key period in the EU’s history.

He then became EU Ambassador to Brazil, and in 1999 Head of the European Commission Delegation to Poland, where he played an important part in Poland’s EU accession. After a stint as EU Ambassador to Morocco, he returned to Brussels as Principal Advisor and Head of the European Commission’s Eastern Partnership Task Force, a role he occupied until retiring from the European Commission.

Fluent in French, English and Portuguese, Bruno teaches a course on European Diplomacy at the “Institut d’Etudes Politiques” in Lille.
