“Policy-making in Brussels involves working through the many right answers. My experience as a former Attaché for the UK on Financial Services and my sense of the EU decision-making process help deliver the right outcomes for my clients.”
Parvez Khan joined g+ in September 2011. Before this, Parvez was financial attaché for the United Kingdom. As lead attaché on securities and markets, Parvez led negotiations for the UK in the European Council on highly political and technically complex regulatory issues. Some of the high profile issues Parvez has dealt with were legislative initiatives on hedge funds and private equity, short selling, derivatives and markets infrastructure. Parvez was also involved with the development of the new European Supervisory Authorities.
Prior to this, Parvez spent five years as policy adviser at the UK Financial Services Authority. He dealt with a broad range of securities and markets regulatory issues, including implementation of EU directives such as MiFID and requirements relating to commodities markets. Parvez remains closely involved in the debate on commodities and financial markets in Brussels. He is also founding member of the Financial Services Lawyers Association and currently sits on its Executive Committee.
Parvez has previously worked in the Solicitors Office of HM Customs and Excise (now HM Revenue and Customs) as well as the forensic investigation division of Deloitte and Touche in London. He read Law at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.
